Colophon (v0.2)

I created this site in 1998 as a hobby to practice the craft of writing software for the web.

This site is built and maintained with an emphasis on durability, legibility, and human intention.

Content is authored and organized using a local-first, file-based workflow. Original media is preserved unmodified. Ordering, naming, and captions are treated as acts of authorship, not as metadata exhaust.

Pages are rendered statically where possible. Text files, simple formats, and explicit structure are preferred over opaque systems or dynamic dependencies. Hosting is treated as a replaceable concern, not a source of truth.

The filesystem is treated as the primary source of truth. Transformations are repeatable and non-destructive. Published artifacts are derived outputs, not the originals themselves.

Tools exist to support judgment, not to replace it. Automation is used sparingly and only where it preserves clarity, agency, and intent.

This site favors systems that remain understandable to a future reader — including its author. Reliability above all. Built to Last.
